Welcome back to the final episode of 2024 on the Got Your Back Podcast! And trust us, we’ve saved the best for last! This week, we’re hanging with the incredible Melisa (Mel) Macey – a total icon whose journey crosses industries and dives deep into cultural identity, neurodivergence, parenting, and trauma.
In this episode, Mel takes us through her extraordinary path, from fashion consulting to supporting high school special education, and now facilitating psychological care across Australian organisations. She’s done it all – and she’s here to share it all with us.
We'll hear about the interplay of navigating multiple minorities including gender and cultural identity. Mel’s journey through trauma, resilience, and healing is a powerful reminder that our past doesn’t define us. Her story is real, raw, and filled with wisdom that will make you rethink the power of community and connection.
As always we are so open and committed to our listeners and ensuring that we discuss topics that are accessible, relatable and relevant to what our listeners want to hear. If you have any feedback, topic suggestions or things you want addressed, please get in touch with us on social media.

Welcome back everyone! Out of all the episodes we have released so far, this is not one you want to miss. In this episode, we dive deep into emotional dysregulation, which is something that lies at the core of ADHD alongside many other executive functioning challenges. It is not uncommon for ADHDers to be labelled as ‘sensitive’, ‘emotional’, ‘too much’ or as ‘going from 0 to 100’, with some ADHDers even being given additional diagnoses in attempt to explain why they present this way, all because emotional regulation and the way it presents in ADHDers is often not considered or well understood. We also deep dive into Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) and discuss some of the impacts this can have on all aspects of an ADHDers life, alongside research, and both our professional and personal opinions.
As always we are so open and committed to our listener base and ensuring that we discuss topics that are accessible, relatable and relevant to what our listeners want to hear. If you have any feedback, topic suggestions or things you want addressed, please get in touch with us on social media.

Welcome back to Episode 7 of the Got Your Back Podcast (yes, we’re alive)!
In today’s episode we discuss our recent burnout experiences, catch you up on all things Grace and Georgia, and keep it real with the highs and lows of navigating life with ADHD. Today’s episode also introduces the concept of Intersectionality and we reflect on how the overlap of ADHD and gender identity, in combination with many impacts our experiences, identity, wellbeing and contributes to beliefs we’ve developed over time, and impact the way we navigate both the everyday and big life decisions.
We also explore how to start healing, including a general introduction of schema therapy, and how clarifying values and the role that society and intersectionality play in the ease of which we live an authentic life. Join us as we explore these topics and discuss how to bounce back with resilience and self-love. Don't forget to subscribe and leave us a review if you enjoy the episode!
And remember, we’re here now, we’re not going anywhere (well, at least not permanently,) and we’ve got your back.

Welcome to the Got Your Back Community!
As 2 ADHDer psychologists, we experience first hand and through our informal connections, social media feeds and professional connections many of the harmful misconceptions, attitudes and beliefs around ADHD in today's society, particularly in those that are late diagnose, an ever growing trend. We have both experienced ableism, negative self-belief, guilt, rejection and shame about various features of our neurotype and want to use our platform to set the record straight by sharing our experiences while also providing accessible and incusive advocacy and education. This podcast is not just for ADHDers that are assigned female at birth, but for any ADHDer, other neurodivergent brain styles, those that know or support ADHDers, young people living through their 20s or 30s in modern society, those experiencing or know someone experiencing mental health challenges, or those in society wanting to know more about neurodiversity and mental health as a whole
